Congo National Parks
Congo has got several beautiful national parks nine in number namely; Virunga National Park, Kahuzi – Biega National Park, Salonga National Park, Maika National Park, Kundelungu National Park, Odzala –Kokous National Park, Upemba National Park, Ogooue – Leketi National Park, Lomami National Park, Garamba National Park. It has got many national parks because of its size and ranks as the second largest country in Africa and the largest in central Africa. Congo is bordered by Uganda, Rwanda, the Central African Republic, Angola, Burundi, the Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia. And it is blessed with excellent biodiversity of wildlife and vegetation thus becoming among the most visited countries in Africa in the future. This is a destination where one can spot both lowland and mountain gorillas among others.
Virunga National Park
Virunga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage and home to one of the remaining populations of Mountain gorillas. It was established in 1992 and ranks as the oldest national park in Africa it was once the largest national park before it got split to form the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.
More so, Virunga lies on the Eastern side of the country close to the border with Rwanda and Uganda. The park’s astonishing attractions are the three volcanoes; Mikeno, Nyamuragira, and Nyiragongo, and the diversity of wildlife species. Virunga National Park is home to the rare Okapi, Chimpanzees, forest elephants, Uganda kobs, hippos, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, waterbucks, warthogs, topi, duikers, lions, colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and also habitant to over 706 bird species,65 amphibians and 109 reptile species among others.

Kahuzi –Biega National Park
Kahuzi Biega National Park is one of the great visited national parks in Rwanda, located in the southeastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, near the town of Bukavu and the banks of the famous Lake Kivu. More so, the park was created in 1970 by Adrien Deschryver, a Belgium conservationist and photographer, and sits on an area covering about 6000 square kilometers comprised of lowland rainforest, bamboo forests, swamps, and marshland.
The park is home to a diversity of wildlife species such as Eastern Lowland Gorillas, eastern chimpanzees, bush buffaloes, forest elephants,owl-faced monkeys, bongos, otters, bush elephants, galagos, aquatic civet, and bush squirrels among others.
