5 Days Rwanda Safari
This 5 Days Rwanda Safari leads you highlight gorilla trekking tour in Volcanoes National Park. Apart from the gorillas, you will also go for chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park. You will also do golden monkey trekking, a cultural visit and a city tour adventure. Visit Nyungwe, Akagera and the Volcanoes national park, this makes the top wildlife destinations in Rwanda, thus having a remarkable safari experience on the land of thousand hills.
Nyungwe National Park is known as primate kingdom, located in southwest Rwanda, partly a butting the Burundi border. It is home of 13 primate’s species including Angola colobus, golden monkeys, chimpanzees and black and white colobus.
Volcanoes National Park is renowned as Rwanda’s popular tourism destination because of its large number of endangered mountain gorillas. The park has become popular around the world due to great work done by Dian Fossey who established a gorilla research station in the early 1960’s. She helped discover how to habituate mountain gorillas and was very instrumental in fighting poaching.
Gorilla trekking being the main popular done activity, can choose to participate also in golden monkey trekking, visiting the tomb of Dian Fossey, visit the Musanze caves, hiking one of the Virunga Volcanoes and visiting nearby cultural Centre.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
On your first day, our expert driver guide will pick you at the Kigali Airport or your hotel in the Kigali, early morning. You will be briefed about the safari and then the driver will take you for a 2-hour tour of Kigali. You will first go for city tour where you will visit Genocide memorial Centre, the palace of the former president of Rwanda, the main city market and artisan shops.
After the city tour, have hot lunch and therefore, proceed to Nyungwe Forest. Along the way, you will have a stop at the palace of the former King of Rwanda and other key places. Arrive at the park, in late afternoon, check into the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe forest
Wake up every early and enjoy breakfast before being driven to the Nyungwe forest offices for a short briefing on chimpanzee tracking. The briefing is about the history of the forest, wildlife to be found. After briefing, go for chimpanzee trekking, which takes 30 minutes to 5 hours. You will be escorted by skilled ranger who will give you correct information about the chimps. On finding them, an hour will be given to observe their amazing behaviors, habit, feed and picture taking.
After chimp tracking, you will be driven back to the lodge for lunch and rest. Later on, you will go for canopy walk where tourists have great opportunity to get an aerial view of the park while working across the viewing platform. You will also view various birds, primates and tree species. After, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit the Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera
On this day, wake up early and take breakfast and then proceed to Volcanoes National Park with a visit to beautiful Lake Kivu and other beautiful features. You will enjoy many pictures taking of the lake as you can. You will also enjoy viewing beautiful countryside with rolling hills ,green plantations and welcoming locals. Once you access the park, you will check in and relax a bit. Then after, go visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. You can choose to do boat ride and visit the islands. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Cultural village
Wake up early have breakfast and then be transferred to the park headquarter offices in Musanze, for briefing about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts. After briefing, you will be escorted by the park ranger to lead you through forest canopy walk in search of mountain gorillas. On finding them, you will be allowed one hour with them as you get to learn about their behaviors and habits among others.
Once you gorilla trekking is done, you will trek back to the starting point to meet up with your driver guide to connect to the lodge, take lunch and have some rest.
Later in the evening, you will go to Iby’Iwacu culture village, where you will experience in amazing Rwanda cultural performances. Enjoy watching traditional dance performance and visit each part of the facility to learn about the culture of the different tribes in Rwanda. Dinner and an overnight

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking /Departure
On your last day, take relaxed breakfast and continue to the park offices in Kinigi. At the park headquarter, you will meet up with other travelers for briefing about golden monkeys. After briefing, the park guide will take you to search for the monkey in the bamboo forests. Once allocating them, you will be amazed to watch these playful creatures as well as enjoy taking photography. Then after, you will drive back to Kigali with picnic lunch and within 2-to-3-hour drive. Your driver guide will drop you off at the airport for departure.
