Uganda Museum

The Uganda Museum is the oldest museum in East Africa to display different historical section of traditional back ground of Uganda, located along Kintante road few kilometres away from Uganda capital city ‘’Kampala’’. This museum has contributed a lot on Uganda’s tourism industry with great achievements through exhibiting the traditional life collection of Uganda’s culture. It started in 1908 by the British protectorate government at Lugard’s fort on old Kampala where now the National Gadhafi Mosque is positioned. Later in 1942 it was shifted to Makerere University School of Fine art and in 1954 was officially transferred to Kintante hill which turned into a permanent place.

To note, in 2008 Uganda museum made 100 years into existence something outstanding and remarkable in the entire East Africa.

Science Industry section

This historical section is composed of old traditional dressing code like gomesi for women and Kanzu for men, wooden sandals, bark cloth, baskets, wooden tools, traditional reed door. Tools they used for hunting like stones, bones, wood for different purposes.

Archaeology section.

This section is displayed with museum galley such as Xylem phone, drums were used has forms of instrument by traditional African stories for Bachwezi. The first printing press which printed the first newspaper to be read in Uganda is also displayed in this section thus impacting on Uganda’s tourism.

This section displays with different African traditional huts where one can get excited of these beautiful huts each with its different historical back ground. It is found outside the promises of the museum. This Uganda’s cultural houses are categorised of different traditional huts ‘’house’’ among Uganda’s traditional tribe called Batooro, Bakiga, Lango, Ankole, Baganda, Bagishu among others. Each traditional hut has its significant has a clan like hunting spire and hunting in Uganda has been existing over 100,000 years ago. Tools used include bark clothes, traditional beds, knives, traditional dressing codes and saddles.
