Sport Fishing-Lake Mburo National Park Uganda : Sport fishing is one of the most exciting activity done in the park which can be conducted around the protected areas  of Mazinga .Lake Mburo national park is ultimate savannah game park located in the western region of Uganda with a total area of about 260 square kilometres home to a wide range of wildlife species over 68 mammals such as elands, zebras, kobs, buffaloes, elephants among others, over 350 species of birds are recorded such as Black bellied bustard ,Grey Crowned crane, Emerald spotted wood Dove ,Nubian woodpecker ,Blue breasted kingfisher ,Mosquito swallow, African fin foot, Brown parrot, Green wood hoopoe ,Yellow breasted Apalis ,Red shouldered cuckoo ,Nubian woodpecker ,Red faced barbet ,Blue headed causal ,Shrike ,Rufous-bellied Heron ,Coqui francolin ,Ross Turaco ,Red headed lover birds among others.

The park is small in size but it has got quite a number of activities to be done by the tourists on their visit here. The most famously done activity is the horseback riding safari which can be done at affordable price, come along with sport fishing safari.

In Lake Mburo national park –sport fishing can be practised in all thirteen lakes both in and outside the park but Lake Mburo being the main fishing lake that attracts a number of fishermen. Visitors are requested to book for their fishing permits direct from Uganda Wildlife Authority Offices through emailing. Lake Mburo being the largest among the thirteen lakes it inhabits six species of fish including lung fish, Tilapia, mud fish, and haplochromes. The main fishing ground is at Mazinga as well as lake Mburo without any worry of hippos and crocodiles.

Along your fishing experience in Lake Mburo, travellers are given a chance whatever fish caught respectively will be taken to the lodge and be prepared for your dinner and enjoy delicious snack fish. Always remember to carry your own gears if not safari companies can organise fishing gear for you.

The park hosts a total of five lakes and lake Mburo is the largest among them located outside the park’s boundary to make thirteen in number. Along this lakes, travellers can enjoy boat cruise which can take 1:30 hours where you can be able to cruise near hippos and crocodiles as well as water birds. Boat cruise goes at a fee of USD15 per person per day.

Apart from sport fishing in lake Mburo national park, you can participate in horseback riding safari which can be done in the morning hours and late evening. This is a rewarding activity done by a trained guide who accompanies you to the park’s promises as you ride closer to zebras, kobs, buffaloes, elands with great sights. Best time to do sport fishing in Lake Mburo

The best time for sport fishing is throughout the year but the best enjoyable experience is during morning hours and in the evening when the day is cool. In  the month of January.

Lake Mburo national park can be accessed within 4 to 5 driving hours. From Kampala or Entebbe, it takes a short drive to access the park’s activities in time.
