How to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies about 530 kilometers away from Kampala Uganda and 576 kilometers from Entebbe International Airport. You can alternatively hire a tour operator to make all necessary travel arrangements for your trip to avoid getting lost in a foreign land while trying to manage things by yourself.
Travel to Bwindi; There are available modes of transport that include both air and road transport. Uganda ‘s domestic airline that serves tourists visiting the national parks and in and outbound regions include; Aerolink, Eagle Air, Bar Aviation many more. Then road transport is a moderately developed road system by use of 4X4WD is recommended.
There are several routes for the modes of transport in the country serving the southwestern region of Uganda.
By Road
Travel from Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kihihi to Buhoma ‘’2-3 hours’’
From Kampala driving through Mbarara take about 8 to 9 hours.
From Kampala –Kabale- Kanungu – Buhoma takes about 6 – 8 hours.
From Kampala Ntungamo – Rukungiri- Kihihi – Buhoma ‘’390kilometers’’ and Kampala – Kabale – Nkuringo ‘’4 hours’’.
The above-mentioned routes require 4×4 vehicles for the journey because of the kind of terrain, long distance, the rains, and mud along the way.
You can opt to board the public local bus, from Kampala to the southern section of Bwindi via Mbarara, Kabale, and Kisoro town. Or you can drive from Kampala to northern Bwindi via Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, and Kihihi to Butogota.

By Air
However, there are two options either flying direct from Entebbe or Kajjansi airfield to Kisoro.
This domestic flight can take about 1:20 hours and those planning to track from the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Rushaga sector. It is serviced by Aero link or Bar Aviation.
Travelers on their tracking gorillas in the northern part of the park at Buhoma region can charter planes to land at Kayonza Airstrip. Kayonza Airstrip is dominated by Fly Uganda.
Climate and Weather: Bwindi sits near the equator meaning that temperatures are very consistent all year around, experiencing around 23 degrees Celsius in the day and dropping to roughly 11 degrees Celsius at night. However, there is low and high altitude within the park

The gorilla families in Bwindi include; Rushegura Gorilla Family, Habinyanja Gorilla Group, Mubare Gorilla Family, Bitukura gorilla family, Oruzongo family, Kyaguriro family group, Nkuringo Gorilla Group, Mishaya Gorilla Family, Nshongi Gorilla Family, Kahugye family group, Bweza gorilla family, Busingye gorilla family, Nyakagezi gorilla group mentioned but few.
