6 Days Kenya and Kigali Safari
Our 6 Days Kenya and Kigali Safari is quite an awesome safari adventure, combining wildlife viewing in Kenya’s Maasai Mara with gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s famous Volcanoes National Park. Typically, the itinerary includes: arrival in Kigali, Rwanda, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park for a gorilla trekking experience. After the Rwanda safari part, fly to Nairobi, Kenya, and transfer to the Maasai Mara for game drives. The final day, depart back to Nairobi.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Travel to Volcanoes National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), our professional safari driver-guide will be waiting to welcome you to the land of a thousand hills and brief you about the safari. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park, ‘’2hrs drive. Optional- enjoy a city tour of the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Arrive in the afternoon, depending on what time you arrive at the airport. You will settle into your booked accommodation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, followed by a transferred to the park headquarters for a short briefing on gorilla trekking rules, regulations, and expectations. After the briefing, meet the park ranger to allocate you to the assigned gorilla family that matches your energy. The trek can take 30minutes to 7 hours, depending on their movements in the forest. Once gorillas are found, an hour is allowed to spend with them in their natural environment. Have time to learn about their amazing behaviors, habits, and enjoy taking memorable photographs. After an exciting experience with these unique creatures, hike back to the starting point to be rewarded with a gorilla certificate for participation in gorilla trekking. Then, you can choose to visit the cultural Centre nearby or drive to connect to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Nairobi, Kenya, and the Maasai Mara. Book your own flight.
On this day, after breakfast, followed by checkout of the lodge and then being transferred to the Kigali airport to fly to Nairobi. You will find our Kenyan driver guide to transfer you to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. On arrival at the park, enjoy a late lunch, rest a bit. After, go enjoy an evening game drive in the Mara plains, where you expect to spot various animal species. Connect to the lodge, dinner, and an overnight.

Day 4&5: Maasai Mara Exploration
Have a delicious breakfast, carry your packed lunch boxes, and then head on a full-day game drive in Maasai Mara, offering opportunities to watch the ‘Big five’’ lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros, and other wildlife. If if happens you visit the park in the month of June to Mid-October, expect to enjoy the Great Migration of wildebeest event.
Optional activities: You can consider doing a hot air balloon safari for a perfect aerial view of the Mara. Or enjoy cultural visits to Maasai villages.

Day 6: Departure
On your final day of the trip, enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then drive to the park to enjoy a final early morning game drive. Later game adventure, transfer back to Nairobi for your scheduled flight back home to be dropped at your hotel in Nairobi.

Starting in Nairobi, the trip can be reversed, starting in Nairobi and ending in Kigali.
Adding other parks; Depending on your interests, you can visit other parks on the Kenyan part, such as Amboseli National Park or Lake Nakuru National Park.
Extending the Rwanda portion: You can opt to visit Nyungwe Forest National Park for Chimpanzee trekking or a boat trip on Lake Kivu.
