The 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari sound like an incredible combined safari tour package. It involves in visiting Volcanoes National Park Rwanda for Gorilla trekking and also visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park for Lion tracking in the Ishasha sector, with an option of visiting the Iby’iwacu cultural village. The trip starts from Kigali and ends in Kampala or Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

Day 1: Pick-up Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On day 1 of the 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari, depending on your point of location in Kigali, meet your safari driver to drive you to Volcanoes national park a journey that lasts 2-3 hours’ drive from Kigali. You can do an optional Kigali city tour and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial site and other places of your own interest in Kigali. Thereafter, continue a drive to Musanze. Arrive, go visit the Dian Fossey Museum and the Ellen Deganerous campus, and explore the great work done in efforts to conserve the gorillas. Check into your reserved lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay at Virunga Inn Lodge for luxury/Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge for mid-range/Amikus Hotel for budget.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and optional Iby’iwacu Cultural Village

Wake up early have your delicious breakfast, then connect to the park headquarters with your packed lunch boxes. Upon arrival, meet the park officials for a briefing about the mountain gorillas in the mist. Thereafter enter into the natural inhabitant in search of the mountain gorillas, which can last about 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. On finding the gorillas you will be allowed to spend 1 hour, taking impressive photos and videos. After trekking, meet your driver and return to the lodge and spend your afternoon/ evening at leisure or visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village where you can experience the Rwanda cultural performances, and shop the souvenir’s. After returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and evening game drive 

After early morning breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which covers a 7-8-hour drive. Upon arrival, depending on time, have an optional stop at Ishasha sector for a game drive for chances of viewing the tree-climbing lions. Connect to your reserved lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hub Lodge for mid-range/Bush Lodge for budget/Elephant Plains for luxury

Day 4: Lion tracking experience/Morning game drive – Boat cruiser – transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, then after a game drive and lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will be able to adventure a diversity of wildlife including African elephants, Lions, buffalos, antelopes, impala, among others, and a lot of birds and a good day the leopards. Return to the lodge for lunch.

Connect for lunch before you connect for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to encounter a variety of bird species, elephants and buffaloes, hippos, and crocodiles. The Kazinga channel is known to have the highest concentration of hippos. Retreat from the boat trip and transfer to Kibale National Park – home of the wild endangered chimpanzees. It takes 3 hours to drive and upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge for check-in, have lunch, and spend your afternoon at leisure. Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking – transfer to Kampala/Entebbe – Departure 

Wake up have morning breakfast at the lodge, and connect to Kibale forest for your chimpanzee trekking experience with your packed snacks and water. You will first report at the park headquarters for a briefing before starting the activity. This is a 2-5 hours activity where you will be able to see various primate species such as chimpanzees, monkeys, and other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs and duiker, warthogs, reptiles as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. On finding the chimpanzees, you will be given an hour to spend with chimpanzees. Return to the Lodge for lunch.

Later meet with the guide/driver to drive back to Kampala/Entebbe. This journey takes 6-7 hours on the road including stopovers for refreshment. Arrive at Kampala/Entebbe Airport for your flight departure.
